PolarPantry Support
Need help with PolarPantry? You’re in the right place.
Getting started
- Add an item: tap the + button on the home screen. You can type the name, scan a barcode, photograph a receipt, or photograph an expiry date.
- Mark something as eaten: swipe left on the item. It moves to History and can be restored anytime.
- Share with your family: Settings → Sharing → ‘Share my kitchen’ — pick the locations and shopping list to share, then send the invite link.
- Get reminders: open Settings to set how many days before expiry you want a notification, and at what time of day.
- Export your data: Settings → Data → Export creates a JSON file with all your items, ready to share or back up.
Common questions
I don’t see any ads — is that normal?
Ads load only when your device has a network connection. Offline use is fully supported with no ads.
Where is my data stored?
In your own iCloud account. We don’t run a server, and your data isn’t sent to any third party. Sharing with family also works through iCloud. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Can I share my fridge with a partner?
Yes. Go to Settings → Sharing → ‘Share my kitchen,’ choose the locations and shopping list to share, and send the invite link. You both see and edit the same fridge, synced over iCloud, and you can see who each location is shared with.
How do the AI recipe suggestions work?
On Apple Intelligence–capable iPhones, open the Recipes tab and tap ‘Suggest recipes.’ You can ask follow-ups in the chat and add any missing ingredients to your shopping list. On other iPhones, the Recipes tab explains the requirement and scanning falls back to a non-AI parser.
The barcode scanner doesn’t recognize my item.
PolarPantry uses the Open Food Facts database. If a barcode isn’t found, you can still add the item manually with a name and expiry date.
